War Memorial Plaques

These plaques are dedicated to the officers of the Bank of New Zealand who fought and lost their lives during WWI and WWII.

While similar memorials are common in our communities, it is rare and special for a company to commission memorial plaques for its staff.

Originally located in Bank of New Zealand’s Head Office at the corner of Willis Street and Lambton Quay, these plaques have moved several times following the Bank’s various relocation's.

In 2018 it was discovered that two additional names should be included on the WW1 memorial, these names are now alongside those of their fellow BNZ officers.

Treasured by the Bank’s former and current employees it is appropriate that these staff memorials now reside at the new BNZ building at 96 The Terrace in Wellington.
