Rita Angus
12 March 1908 - 25 January 1970
One of New Zealand's most significant artists, Rita Angus used Byzantine imagery and Cubism as influences in her work alongside her unique style of simplified forms and use of colour.
For a while Angus lived next to fellow artist Leo Bensemann and the two artists spurred each other on in their work.
