Nicholas Chevalier

Chevalier was an itinerant European artist who spent some time painting in New Zealand and Australia.

Many of his works were done in watercolour. His oil paintings of New Zealand are rare.

This finely painted work records an isolated part of inland Otago and was probably painted by Chevalier when he was living in Dunedin.
