Brent Wong
A mostly self-taught artist Brent Wong was based in Wellington on Vivian Street for the early years of his career. Influenced by surrealism and a fascination with architecture Wong created imagined, dry, sparse landscapes dominated by his recurring motif of a hovering, eerie, architectural concrete like structure. The one constant in Wong’s painting is the sky which usually occupies at least half of the canvas. The blue of the sky seems to offer hope where without it there would be none.
